Gary Brecher è un americano che scrive su Exile,
un giornale alternativo russo (in inglese). E' un war fan, un esperto
di guerra, tipo quelli che vengono chiamati alla TV di tanto in tanto.
Con la differenza che quelli non sanno niente di niente, mentre lui dà
l'idea di essere molto ben documentato (vedere per esempio il caso del Nepal in cui ha previsto cose che poi sono effettivamente successe o l'articolo sulla strage spagnola: Basques my Ass!).
You have to love the Net. It brings stuff out into the open that would never
reach you if a few big papers and TV networks still decided what we got to see. Now every
nut case with a few rupees to spend at an internet place can broadcast his message to the
world. Which, most of the time, is "Blam!"
Certe storie puzzano, e quella dei terroristi che sequestrano ostaggi,
ne uccidono soquanti e poi riescono a scappare nonostante il
filmatissimo intervento con l'elicottero sul tetto dell'edificio non è
una delle più profumate. Beh, secondo Brecher (che se non altro è
abbastanza estroso) l'Arabia Saudita è completamente bollita:
It reads to me more like terrorist collusion with the local cops -- either that or the
cops and soldiers of the Saudi government are so totally intimidated they're not a factor
any more.
And that means Saudi Arabia probably isn't going to last much longer. When the
government troops won't leave their barracks, when the cops run every time the rebels fire
a shot...well, church is about out. Think Tehran when the Shah fell, or Cambodia in
'75.
Che non è proprio quello che si dice una buona notizia, no?
